Independent recognition
The 2011 edition of the Legal 500 ranked Cooke, Young & Keidan as a leading London firm in both the Banking Litigation (Investment and Retail) and Commercial Litigation categories and commented that we have "made a sustained impact in the market" being "responsive and client focused", and "able to take on any of the biggest players in complex commercial litigation". That directory also commented that the firm "provides excellent advice at far lower fees". The 2010 edition of the Legal 500 had previously commented that we are "a match for the large, well-known firms".
The Chambers and Partners Guide 2012 ranked us as a leading firm for banking litigation commenting that the firm is "made up of "great tacticians" who "quickly get to the heart of complex matters".
Track record and experience
The firm was established in January 2009 by its three founding partners, Gerald Cooke, Philip Young and Marc Keidan. The founding partners recognised the gap in the market for specialist and conflict-free disputes lawyers, without the high prices charged by the large City of London law firms.
The firm's senior partner, Gerald Cooke, was a disputes specialist with the global law firm Baker & McKenzie for 20 years. The firm's other partners also have substantial experience in the resolution of complex domestic and international disputes, gained from years of practising in top City law firms. Likewise, the firm has recruited only the most talented of associate solicitors, including solicitors who have joined from major City and international disputes practices. The firm’s partners are recognised and ranked in the legal directories as leaders in their fields.
